In 1960 a 32 year old hot rodder drove a backyard built, quad Pontiac powered car to 406.60 mph on the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats. The shaky run propelled the young man, Mickey Thompson, into the spotlight as he became the first first American to break the 400mph barrier.
2009 BMW Sauber F1
It’s the end again for BMW in F1, the fruitless 2000’s era was quietly wrapped up in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday with ex-BMW Sauber F1 test driver Sebastian Vettel taking the checkered flag. Nick Heidfeld managed a respectful 5th pace, and Robert Kubica took the number 10 position.
I stumbled upon this fantastic short documentary about Porsche automobiles on YouTube. No information is given about the brilliant little piece, although it appears to be produced by Porsche in the early 1970’s and was likely intended to be used as an ornate sales pitch for the North American market.
