FROM THE TELEGRAPH: McLaren, along with Mercedes, have sought urgent clarification on the rules from the FIA and are still hopeful that the controversial ‘flexi-wing’, which allows the front endplates almost to touch the ground under heavy loads, may be declared illegal before the race.
Sebastian Vettel scorched to pole position at the Hungaroring from Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber — the German’s fourth pole in a row and Red Bull’s 11th in 12 races — with the Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa in third and fourth. But it was the margin of Vettel’s superiority over the rest of the field which drew gasps. Lewis Hamilton qualified 1.7 seconds behind Vettel in fifth place and afterwards described Red Bull’s pace as “incredible”. His McLaren team-mate Jenson Button could not even make the final top-10 shoot-out, qualifying back in 11th place. MORE»
