Being a “Yank” I know little about the British built Reliant Scimitar GTE. Excuse my ignorance. I do know this one is for sale on eBay. Overall the GTE has a great sporty wagon physique, however during a Scimitar GTE internet search I’d say I prefer the smaller 1st gen (1968 – 1975) looks a bit more. This ‘78 example is a 2nd gen (1975-1986), which apparently Reliant purposely made a little more luxurious and soft to cater to the executive market.
The brown and tan cloth/vinyl interior looks spotless. The chrome shifter handle is attached to a two speed automatic transmission and looks a lot like an early mustang unit.
The engine is a British Ford designed and built Essex V6. A healthy and reliable engine commonly used in the mighty Ford Transit vans.
The staring price for this little guy is $4000. To me, that sounds reasonable if the body and mechanicals are solid. Considering that there’s only two in the U.S. according to the seller, you’d certainly turn more than a few heads for little money.
