A leaked Lotus Engineering document shows extraordinary insight into the company’s new versatile Evora platform. The 63 page report covers a wide range of topics such as market placement, platform construction, safety, cost and manufacturability. It’s also chocked full photos as well as CAD/FEA renderings.
Interestinly, it also illustrates how the platform was engineered with an Evora roadster in mind, which is rumored for a 2010 release. Also, the last few pages show the chassis in an electric vehicle configuration, Lotus calls this option the Plus Zero. The 230 mile EV would be powered by 200kW motor that’s fed by a 71 kWh air-cooled battery pack situated directly behind the driver.
Lotus’ engineers due diligence is clearly demonstrated. To me, this document is effective marketing – I really want an Evora more than ever.
