What we have here is an ultra cool banana yellow Lotus 11 “tribute” that’s being sold on eBay. The seller is adamant that it’s no kit car and it was constructed with the best components available. After reviewing the numerous build photos, it does indeed appear that way. The 11’s integral tube frame chassis backbone was taken from a 1969 Lotus Elan and is titled as such.
The side profile of a lotus 11 is truly unique, it can’t be mistaken for any other car. Tucked under the yellow fiberglass clamshells is a set of hub mounted 8 spoke alloys. The polished aluminium tub adds a nice contrast.
Dual side draft carbs sneak a peak out of the clamshell bulge. The headlights work.
This photo shows the primered ’69 Elan’s backbone well. Raw sheets of aluminum for fabrication can be seen leaning against the wall.
The Twin Cam Lotus 1600 only has 2500 miles on it. It produces 140hp after being rebuilt with a long list of performance enhancing parts.
The sparse cockpit contains two cozy buckets, an assortment VDO gauges, a thick rimmed steering wheel and a polished shift knob that’s attached to the Ford Sierra 5 Speed Transmission. Nothing more is needed.
The fabricator of this fine machine must have been devastated to sell this labor of love. It’s beautiful and unique, the only thing I would change is the color. It needs more BRG.
